JE Pistons, Roush Yates Performance Products sign on as PASS South Presenting Sponsors

Naples ME (3/31) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce that JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products have agreed to co-present the PASS South super late model series for the balance of the 2011 racing season. The announcement comes just a week before THE RACE at Historic North Wilkesboro (NC) Speedway, the 300 lap, $75,000.00 to win super bowl of short track racing that has drawn entries from Maine to California.

The presenting sponsorship comes with a variety of valuable awards for racers and engine builders. In addition to providing a product certificate award at each PASS South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products event, PASS North teams will benefit from a similar program for running the JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products logos. The top engine builder in each series will receive a generous product certificate based on driver points earned, and, there will be end of the season awards for the PASS South, North and National Champions.

Greenville Pickens Speedway Race Preview

Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., will try a second time to make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at Greenville Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C., on Saturday, April 2, after the season-opening event was rained out last weekend. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate joins Dave Davis Motorsports to tackle the entire 12-race schedule in 2011. A two-time WKA Grand National Champion in the go-kart ranks with some experience in regional Late Models and Formula 3 open-wheel cars, this marks the 19-year-old Hodgson’s first full-time foray into stock car racing. Though he has never competed at any of the 10 tracks on the K&N Pro Series East schedule, he did test at Greenville Pickens with Dave Davis Motorsports earlier this month.

Travis Benjamin Gearing up for 2011 Race Season.

It has been along winter and the fans drivers can’t wait to hear the roar of the engines, as the PASS North season opened at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, is only a month away. One of the fan favorites Travis Benjamin, driver of the number 17, will once again take on the drivers of the Pro All Star Series to win his first PASS Championship.

RPM. What have you been doing in the off season?
Travis. We have been working really hard on our cars to make sure they are both ready to go for the season. I personally have been playing a lot of Basketball and just picked up playing Floor Hockey. Trying to stay busy cause its been a really long winter.

Ford Blue Oval Challenge Has Lots Of New Competition

Waterbury, VT – The Ford Blue Oval Challenge for ACT Late Model teams will see some administrative changes and a whole lot more competition in the upcoming 2011 race season.

The American Canadian Tour (ACT) and Ford Sportsman Circle Track Racing, a division of Ford Racing, announced today the second year of the “Blue Oval Challenge” for the Ford competitors racing in ACT events or at ACT affiliated Late Model tracks.

BERWICK, Maine – Joey Doiron figures he was probably only four years old the last time the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competed at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway, but he sensed the history as soon as he visited the venerable racing grounds on a recent trip.

“I think I used to watch the races then, but I honestly don’t remember if I ever saw North Wilkesboro or not,” Doiron said this week. “It’s a really cool place, though. It’s like stepping back in time when you get there. It was kept up pretty well for no one really touching it in 15 years or so.”

PASS South Heads Back To Dillon For Rescheduled South Carolina Clash

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 29) – After a weekend that saw torrential rains pound the Southeast, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South competitors are looking forward to a return trip to Dillon (SC) Motor Speedway this Saturday night for the rescheduled 6th Annual South Carolina Clash. With an extra week off to get prepared for the tricky 4/10 mile oval, this weekend’s event promises to be extremely competitive. Before the rains moved into the region and forced the cancellation of the event on its originally scheduled date last weekend, 23 PASS South teams converged on Dillon last Friday to get their machines fine tuned. A New Race Season and New Racing Opportunities

Travis Dunbar is making the move this season to compete in the Coors Six Pack Pro Stock Series, which is a 6 race schedule divided between Lee Speedway, in Lee, NH and Canaan Fair Speedway, in Canaan, NH. Travis and the race team along with some new crew members have spent the winter getting the car ready to race, at the Coors Season opener on May 28th at Canaan Speedway.

NSCS Race Recap: Last-Lap Pass Gives Harvick Win at Fontana

FONTANA, Calif.—Hometown boy (finally) makes good.

Kevin Harvick, who grew up in Bakersfield—about 150 miles from Auto Club Speedway—needed a last-lap pass of Jimmie Johnson to win for the first time at the 2-mile track, in his 18th attempt.

Harvick won Sunday’s Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, powering his No. 29 Chevrolet to the outside of Johnson’s No. 48 Chevy through Turns 3 and 4 and beating Johnson to the finish line by .144 seconds.

The 2011 NELCAR Legends season is almost here. The Legends are getting ready to take to the track for the first race of the season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, on April 16th.

One of the drivers that will be tearing up the track is Alan Smith, driver of the number 33 Fastco Corporation car. Alan along with his brother, own Fastco Co. but when he wasn’t working this past winter he was racing snowmobiles, in SnoCross. “I have been very busy with our annual SnoCross races, which involves building a track, sponsorships, permits, engineering, planning and scheduling. Waterford Champ Jordan Moves to Valenti Modified Racing Series

Canaan, NH. — Two-time Waterford Speedbowl Late Model champion Timmy Jordan
of Plainfield, CT, will move to open-wheel racing and the Valenti Modified Racing
Series when the tour opens its 2011 season at the famed race track Saturday and Sunday, April 2 & 3. The two-day event marks the second consecutive season the VMRS will be part of the annual Budweiser Blast-Off Weekend.

Jordan, who started his racing career at Waterford in the mini-stock division, moved
to the full-bodied Late Models where he garnered 22 wins over the last five years. Although open wheel racing will be new to the 26-year-old high school teacher, Jordan feels he has good experience to tap into, to lean on for information and input. KYLE BUSCH CONTINUES WINNING STREAK AT AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (March 26, 2011) – A risky pit decision paid off for Kyle Busch and his No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota on Saturday during the Royal Purple 300 NASCAR NNS race at the Auto Club Speedway as Busch finished victorious by .713 seconds for the third consecutive race and fifth time in six starts.

Busch spoiled the day for pole-sitter Carl Edwards (No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford) and Kevin Harvick (No. 33 Rheem Pool and Spa Heaters Chevrolet), who battled all day and led for a combined 112 of 150 laps of the race and finished second and third, respectively.

ACT LEE USA OPENER TO SHOWCASE NEW TEAMS IN 2011

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will open the 2011 season at the Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 17, 2011 with many new faces in the pits.

Two veteran Oxford Plains Speedway competitors plan to start their 2011 ACT seasons at Lee. Shane Green, South Paris, ME will drive the Geoffrey Low entry, and Dennis Spencer from Oxford, ME both have a lot of experience with ACT racing. Oxford Plains has presented 22 ACT Late Model races, plus four non-point TD Bank Oxford 250s. Both drivers have participated in most of those events and Spencer participated in the second annual ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) last September.
