IRWINDALE, Calif. – Matt Kobyluck is no stranger to wild finishes at the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown. Saturday night at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, he once again got the best of a three-car, last-lap free-for-all to end up in Victory Lane.
Pro All Stars Series News – PASS North schedule changes
Naples ME (January 23, 2009) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) has announced several changes to the 2009 PASS North super late model schedule.
On Saturday May 16 the super late models will tackle Maine’s toughest oval, Unity Raceway. Sunday August 23 the traveling pros will return to Canaan Fair Speedway. Unity action gets the green at 3:00 PM and the first heat race at Canaan will take to the speedway at 2:00 PM.

Westbrook, CT: On Saturday, January 10, 2009 the Racing Against Cancer TM Team celebrated the 12th Annual Awards Luncheon at the Foxwoods Resort Casino paying tribute to its heritage and its group of devoted supporters. During the emotional ceremony, a number of contributors shared the spotlight for their outstanding fundraising accomplishments during the 2008 racing season. Throughout the year, the Racing Against Cancer (RAC) Team members collectively raised over $53,000 for the fight against cancer.

2000 NASCAR Busch North Series Rookie of the Year Mike Johnson will be among the racers heading to Maine for the 10th annual Busch Sport Scene Snowmobile Ride for Charity.
Johnson is among the top 20 in all time NASCAR Busch North / Camping World Series wins and pole awards. His seven career wins are one shy of 13th place all-time, only three NASCAR CWS drivers have won more races in this decade.
Its Goodyear for PASS in 2009 and beyond
Naples ME (January 16 2009) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today that the asphalt short track sanctioning body has entered into a five year contract with Larry Robinson Enterprises to provide Goodyear Racing Tires to series competitors. The agreement provides for a ten inch Super Late Model race tire exclusive to the PASS North and South Super Late Model divisions, as well as products for the PASS Mod and Sportsman divisions.

Lloyd “Butch” Burgess, Jr. passed away at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville on Friday evening, January 9, 2009. Butch will be greatly missed by his adoring family. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Barbara Jean Atkinson Burgess of Fairfield and his three children, daughters Stephanie Burgess and Jennifer Robbins of Oakland and his son Jeffrey Burgess and his companion Nya Clement of E. Madison. He was the extremely proud grandparent of Bailey Burgess and Cody and Chelsea Robbins, all of Oakland. Butch was greatly anticipating the birth of a grandson in June to Jeff and Nya.

Here it is, the beginning of a new year and like everyone else, I long for the heat of summer and the excitement of the race track. During the long cold winter, I anticipate the sights and the smells of being at the race track that every true race fan will appreciate! I recently had the opportunity to talk with Chuck Lachance and to find out how he first got into what has turned out to be quite a successful hobby.

Laperle, Dragon, Williams Honored at ACT/Thunder Road Banquet of Champions
South Burlington, VT – American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model driver Patrick Laperle from Montreal was honored as a first time winner of the United States ACT Championship at the annual Banquet of Champions on Saturday night at the Sheraton-Burlington Hotel & Conference Center in South Burlington, VT. Over 500 teams and fans celebrated with Laperle, as he became the first Canadian driver to win the ACT title since Jr. Hanley took the honors in 1995. Laperle is the first Quebec driver to ever win the US championship. Laperle won the ACT Canadian Serie Castrol championship in 2007. Laperle beat Milton, Vermont driver Scott Payea for the 2008 US title by a single point in the final race of the year. He had to win his third Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road last fall to win the ACT title.
