RIVERSIDE 250 RENAMED IWK 250

 

JAMES RIVER, NS (May 30, 2007) – An event with a long and storied history in Maritime stock car racing circles – the Riverside 250 – has been renamed. The IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body and DuPont Refinish is set for July 21 at Riverside Speedway. The title change is the culmination of a partnership between the track, the IWK Health Centre Foundation, Steve Lewis Auto Body and DuPont Refinish.

The hammer has fallen for one American-Canadian Tour (ACT) driver following the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic at Thunder Road on Monday. Brian Hoar of Williston, VT was competing in the race to “test” for the upcoming ACT Late Model Tour events at the track later this year, and crossed the finish line in second place. Hoar failed technical inspection, however, as his car found to be in violation of ACT’s strict Koni sealed shock absorber rule.

HUNTINGTON, NY (MAY 28, 2007) – Donny Lia had to wait for years to win a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Stafford Motor Speedway (CT).  He mastered the track by winning there in an SK Modified, but when it came to “Tour racing,” something would always keep him from victory lane – bad luck, being in the wrong place at the wrong time or even losing a wheel within sight of the finish line.

D.J. SHAW WINS COASTAL 200 AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

 

            Youth out-dueled experience Sunday afternoon at Wiscasset Raceway as 17 year old D.J. Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire beat Maine racing legend Mike Rowe of Turner to win the 2007 Coastal 200 and pocket the $10,000 winner’s check. The big race capped off a busy double-header Memorial Day weekend at the track, which also featured double points racing Saturday night. With his father, former NASCAR Busch North champion Dale Shaw, on the radio guiding him around the high banks of Maine’s fastest track, the kid took everything the crafty Rowe could toss at him throughout the race.

Veteran Driver Battles With Dave Dion And Ben Rowe To Win Super Late Model Feature

NAPLES, ME (May 26, 2007) – Mike Rowe won the Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model event at White Mountain Motorsports Park (NH) on Saturday night.  In doing so, he had to hold off the challenges of longtime rival Dave Dion early in the 150-lap feature and son Ben Rowe late in the race.
